Fixed Wire Testing or Electrical Installation Condition Reports
Regular testing of electrical systems will protect your life and your property and meet any legal requirements set by your insurance company.
It's important that a reliable and, experienced electrical installation contractor carries out this potentially lifesaving work. Choose SCL and you have the reassurance of having highly trained staff with the wide range of experience that is needed to guarantee the complete safety of your installation.
Fixed wiring
Any electrical wiring installation may develop faults or may not comply with the very latest regulations.
Regular fixed wiring inspection and periodic testing is carried out to:
ensure that people and livestock are protected from the effects of electric shocks and burns.
prevent potential fire and heat damage caused by a defect in the installation.
check that the installation has not become unsafe through wear or damage.
make sure that there are no installation defects or evidence of non-compliance with the current regulations.
meet your insurance company requirements.
After we have tested your installation, our electrician will issue you with an electrical condition report. This shows the particulars of the installation, the test results and other important information, which is your proof that your installation complies with all BSI and IET Regulations.
Portable appliance testing (PAT)
This is a vital part of any company’s Health and Safety policy.
The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and the self-employed to comply with the regulations, and take reasonable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of equipment.
This means that you need to put in place a regular programme of maintenance, inspection and testing of all of your electrical appliances.
SCL are qualified PAT testers and we will carry out an inventory of the portable appliances at each of your sites and update the inventory regularly. Our inspection team are fully trained in the various tests required to ensure safe operation of your appliances.
Fire alarm testing
There are a wealth of government regulations set out for the maintenance of fire alarms and fire safety precautions in the workplace.
The duty holder is required to undertake periodic checks to ensure the functionality of the system. Failure to do this could lead to enforcement notices requiring compliance, and even the closure of your premises.
As a fire alarm testing specialist, SCL have expertise in the inspection and testing of fire alarms. After careful evaluation of your premises, its uses and its occupancy, we will carry out a formal inspection and test that fully complies with the requirements set out in BS5839.
Upon testing equipment we offer reports that conform to all regulatory standards, and we can schedule further checks for you.
Emergency lighting testing
In accordance with BS5266, emergency lighting systems should be periodically tested and inspected to ensure that they function for design lighting levels, duration and are positioned correctly for use in "power-loss situations".
SCL offer a comprehensive testing and assessment service to include:
Battery discharge test
Lumen level output assessment
Survey to assess adequate coverage
Compatibility with BS requirements
